DJ Selectra’s music career got started in 2008 while working at a private party (as a photographer) for famed celebrity disc jockey Darrin Ebron. After several years of shooting music venues and events for clients like him she became fascinated by the way a DJ could take a crowd through his or her own musical journey. Inspired by this, Selectra purchased her first pair of used Technics 1200s. Within a few months, Selectra got her first big break DJing on a TV pilot, where award-winning producer Tracy Edmonds and comedian Dave Chappelle were attached. While shooting for a few intense days and playing a major part on the TV pilot, she instantly knew that she wanted to become a DJ.
Over the last 5 years, Selectra has perfected her sounds from genres across the globe and has become known for her open format style of djing. Selectra delivers an engaging and lively soundtrack to enhance any environment. Whether it be soul, hip-hop, jazz/lounge, alternative, Top 40, 80’s rock, world, EDM or pop, she blends these genres seamlessly, making her style of djing one that is in demand, leaving her audience craving for more.
Selectra has currently teamed up with Louis Vuitton in Beverly Hills, mixing global sounds for all of their private in-store events. You can also catch her at The Room in Hollywood on Wednesday nights and at The Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica on weekends.
Amongst her peers and notable list of clients, Selectra has without a doubt made a name for herself in the industry.
“At the end of the day, I want to be respected for my skills, not just admired for being a female who happens to DJ.” Selectra
